

OHIO RIVER ACTION - 2009
VOLUNTEERS SAMPLE KENTUCKY POLLUTION LOADING INTO OHIO RIVER SATURDAY – July 11, 2009
Beginning early Saturday morning in Owensboro , citizen volunteers will conduct a coordinated statewide water testing to assess the amount of pathogen and nutrient pollution loading that Kentucky waterways put into the Ohio River . These Watershed Watch in Kentucky volunteers will be collecting the water quality samples as part of the OHIO RIVER ACTION – 2009 study, from the Big Sandy River to the Tennessee River .

An effort will be made to involve volunteers throughout the basins above in the process, including, stream side land owners, high school science groups, support agencies such as Agricultural Extension and the NRCS, municipal utilities, college level faculty and students, environmental groups, Industrial Environmental Engineers and other interested stakeholders willing to participate.
